Working hours: 40 hours/week

Jiang Nan Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant in Halifax, NS. The restaurant serves authentic cuisine from the Southern part of China specializing in Szechuan, Hunan and Jiangxi cuisines. We pride ourselves in customer service while providing authentic Chinese food with a clean and warm environment. Currently, we are looking for a full-time Cook to join us. We expect the team member to be clean, hardworking, dedicated, and enjoys a fast-paced environment.

Primary duties:

∙ Perform tasks assigned by head Cook

∙ Prepare and cook meals for patrons as instructed by head Cook

∙ Maintain a sanitized and well-organized kitchen.

∙ Prepare workstations for cooking.

∙ Prepare and maintaining kitchen equipment.

∙ Arrange food and ensure appealing presentation.

∙ Plan menus, determine the size of food portions.

∙ Inspect kitchens and food service areas

∙ Order supplies and equipment

∙ Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment

Qualifications and skills:

∙ High school diploma at a minimum.

∙ Previous experience in commercial cooking settings or completion of cooking or food safety program.

∙ Ability to work on weekdays and weekends (Morning or evenings).

Preferred qualities:

∙ Experience an asset

∙ Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
