Wage:  $32.60 per hour + benefits according to Union Local 30 Provincial Collective Agreement

            (full-time position -2^nd year apprentice)

Location of Work:  Various locations across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Province of Ontario

Job Description:

• Sweep and clean roofs to prepare them for the application of new roofing materials
• Provide assistance to skilled roofers installing and repairing roofs, flashings, and surfaces
• Remove old roofing materials
• Prepare roofs for re-roofing or new roofing projects
• Assist with the installation, repair and replacement of built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts, hot asphalt and gravel
• Assist with the application of waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level
• Pour hot asphalt and tar
• Clean and maintain equipment
• ·Setup ladders, scaffolds, and hoists in place for taking supplies to roofs

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

Hand-eye co-ordination, physically demanding; Bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads; Large workload, Repetitive tasks, overtime required, work under pressure, fast-paced environment.

Area of specialization:

Conventional and inverted built-up system, modified roofing system, rigid pre-formed roofing system, single ply sheet membrane roofing system, tiled roofs, skylights

Work Site Environment:

At heights, Noisy, Dusty, Dangerous, Outdoors

Work Setting:

Commercial, industrial, residential

-some experience in construction and asset
