Founded by Doug Loyst and Steve Walker, Boss Steel Limited first opened its doors on March 1, 1991, offering high quality ferrous and non-ferrous steel products. Thirty years later, their inventory has grown to include such product lines as aluminum, stainless, cold finished bars, shafting, brass, copper, sheet metal, plate, and over a dozen different lines of tool steel.

Not only does Boss Steel supply materials to a number of manufacturing, construction, and fabrication shops throughout the Greater Toronto Area, you can also find their work in such Toronto landmarks as the Rogers Centre, Air Canada Centre, Roy Thompson Hall, Royal Bank Plaza and the Ontario Science Centre.

They provide raw materials as well as custom finished projects to various industries including home and commercial construction, automotive, restaurant, grocery and retail stores, office buildings, government, educational institutions and more.

Boss Steel supplies formed rebar to the Research and Development department of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation for the testing of bridge construction concepts with superior quality materials that meet their rigorous safety standards.

Boss Steel also supplies the maintenance department of Miller Waste Systems with a variety of steel products.

They have identified the need for an experienced CNC machinist who is has several years of practical experience, to join their team of highly skilled experts, on a full-time basis. The candidate shall have the following attributes:

Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables
  • Repair machine tools and parts
  • Set up and adjust production machineries/tools
  • Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance
  • Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments
  • Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances
  • Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces
  • Set up, operate and maintain a variety of conventional and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
