Responsibilities
Responsibilities and job duties of an A&W Food Service Supervisor involve overseeing various aspects of the restaurant's operations to ensure the smooth functioning of the establishment and the provision of quality customer service. Typical responsibilities of a Food Service Supervisor at our A&W will be :-
Supervising Staff: Responsible for overseeing and directing the activities of other employees, including kitchen staff, servers, and cashiers. This involves assigning tasks, managing work schedules, and ensuring that employees are properly trained.
Customer Service: Ensuring that customers receive excellent service is a top priority. Handle customer inquiries or complaints and ensure that employees are polite, attentive, and efficient in serving customers.
Food Preparation and Presentation: Responsible for ensuring that food items are prepared according to A&W's standards for quality, taste, and presentation. May be involved in food preparation and must also ensure that kitchen staff follows proper food safety and hygiene practices.
Order Management: Coordinate food orders, ensuring that orders are prepared promptly and accurately. They may also handle cash registers and transactions, including providing change and processing payments.
Inventory Management: Keeping track of inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed, and minimizing waste are important duties. Ensure that there is enough stock to meet customer demand without overstocking.
Safety and Sanitation: Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is crucial. Ensures that employees follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to prevent accidents and foodborne illnesses.
Training and Development: Responsible for training new employees and providing ongoing guidance to the existing staff. Ensure that employees understand their roles and responsibilities.
Shift Management: Oversee specific shifts or periods of operation within the restaurant. Responsible for opening or closing the establishment, managing staff during busy periods, and ensuring that workstations are well-organized.
Quality Control: Must maintain the quality of food items, monitor the preparation process, and address any quality issues promptly.
Compliance: Ensuring that the restaurant complies with local health and safety regulations, labor laws, and A&W's corporate standards is essential. This may involve conducting regular safety inspections and enforcing employee compliance with policies.
Budget Management: May assist in budget management, helping to control costs and optimize operational efficiency.
Record-Keeping: Keeping records of sales, inventory, and employee performance may be part of the job to provide reports to management.
Team Leadership: As a supervisor you will play a leadership role, motivating and supporting the team to meet performance goals and maintain a positive work environment.
Marketing and Promotions: Depending on the location and managerial duties, supervisors may be involved in marketing initiatives and promotions to increase sales and attract customers.
Tasks:
Establish methods to meet work schedules.
Supervise and co-ordinate activities of staff who prepare and portion food.
Train staff in job duties, sanitation and safety procedures
Estimate and order ingredients and supplies.
Hire food service staff.
Ensure food service and quality control.
Prepare budget and cost estimates.
Address customers' complaints or concerns
Maintain records of stock, repairs, sales and wastage
Prepare and submit reports.
Prepare food order summaries for chef.
Must have knowledge of the establishment's culinary genres.
Supervise and check assembly of trays.
Supervise and check delivery of food trolleys.
Establish work schedules.
Supervision: 11-15 people
