Work locations: Various locations in Surrey (BC) and other areas of Lower Mainland (BC).

Job Responsibilities

• Determine the layout of the plumbing system, water supply network, and waste and drainage systems by studying blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Diagnose, install, and repair plumbing fixtures, pipes, and drainage systems.
• Mark and locate pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures on walls and floors.
• Install, repair, and maintain domestic and commercial plumbing fixtures and systems.
• Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
• Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
• Ensure that local and provincial safety regulations are met.
• Make openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and fittings.
• Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines.
• Replace any products or equipment that do not meet current safety regulations.
• Perform regular inspections of pipes and plumbing fixtures.
• Layout the plumbing system in a new building or during a home renovation.
• Communicate with co-workers, other trades and take decisions in emergency situations.

Education, Skills & Experience required

• Completion of Secondary School
• Completion of 4-5-year apprenticeship program OR minimum 2-3 years of experience
• Trade certification in plumbing would be an asset
• Sound judgement, analysis & problem-solving skills
• Strong oral & written communication skills
