Position:     Ethnic Cook (NOC 63200)

Salary:       $19 per hour / full-time position (40 hours per week)

Location:    46 Claireville Drive, Toronto, Ontario M9W 5T9

Job Duties:

• Prepare a full assortment of Indian Snacks, Sweets and traditional Curries in accordance with the religious and devotional food laws and practices of the Swaminarayan denomination of the Hindu faith,
• Ensure the food preparation areas follow religious, safety and sanitary food handling practices.
• Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs, special religious event needs, special fasting days and religious festivals.
• Fully adhere and comply to Health and Safety Standards and hygiene requirements in the Kitchen facility
• Estimate expected food consumption; then requisition or purchase supplies, or support in procurement of the raw materials
• Work collaboratively in team environment with local volunteers and staff

Job Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of experience
• Knowledgeable and understand the religious and devotional food laws and practices of the Swaminarayan denomination of the Hindu faith
• Must be able to work co-genially and respect with other team members and volunteers
• Must be able to multi-task and work in a team environment
• Must be available to work afternoons, evenings and weekends
