Job Title: Truck Driver

Business Location: Edmonton, AB T6L 4W1 

Work Location: Various Locations

Term of employment: Full-time, permanent position with minimum 30-40 hours per week

Compensation: $ 35.50/hour

Start Date: As soon as possible

Main duties include but are not limited to:

-Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioningsystems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbonemissions

-Professionalism in customer service

-Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy

-Load and unload goods

-Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment

-Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle

-Perform preventive maintenance

-Receive and relay information to central dispatch

-Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption

-Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Requirements: 

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: Minimum 7 months to less than 1 year experience required

Language: English

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses:

AZ class license

Air Brake (Z) Endorsement

Driver's License (Class 1 or A)

Documentation knowledge:

Accident or incident reports

Bill of lading

Driver logbook

Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)

Maintenance and repair reports

Trans-border documentation

Trip reports

Type of trucking and equipment:

Dry bulk

Flatbed

Refrigerated

Tractor-trailer

Communication systems experience:

Citizens band (CB) radio

Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment

Trip recorder (on-board computer)

Security and safety:

Valid passport

Basic security clearance

Driver's validity licence check

Driving record check (abstract)

Drug test

Transportation/travel information:

Valid driver's licence

Willing to travel cross-border

Willing to travel for extended periods

Willing to travel overnight
