Job Description:

The Huang family is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and reliable Home Support Worker to provide daily care and assistance for an elderly family member in a private home. The successful candidate will support the senior’s health, safety, dignity, and independence through hands-on personal care, companionship, and assistance with daily routines.

Responsibilities:
1. Personal Care & Wellness:
Assist with daily hygiene routines, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects or changes in condition
Support mobility and daily movement; accompany the client on regular walks or light exercises
Collect specimens (e.g., for lab testing) as directed by healthcare providers
Monitor physical and emotional health and report concerns to family or medical professionals
Offer companionship to reduce isolation and provide emotional reassurance

2. Meal Preparation & Nutrition:
Plan, prepare, and serve balanced meals according to dietary needs and preferences
Assist with feeding if required
Shop for groceries and household essentials with or on behalf of the client
Cook meals from scratch with attention to cleanliness and nutrition

3.Household Assistance:
Perform general housekeeping, including dusting, sweeping, kitchen cleanup, and sanitizing high-touch areas
Launder and iron clothing and linens; mend garments and bedding as needed
Make beds and keep living areas clean, safe, and organized
Maintain inventory of household supplies and notify the family when items need restocking

Qualifications and Requirements:
Completion of high school or equivalent
Proven experience providing care for seniors or individuals with similar needs is a priority
Ability to speak, read, and write in English
Candidates must be respectful, trustworthy, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
A clear criminal record check
Patient, loving, and reliable nature
Able to work under pressure
Optional (but an asset):
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before starting)

Employer’s private home
