Position Overview – Production Supervisor

We are hiring a Production Supervisor to lead our production team. The Supervisor’s core role is to ensure smooth daily operations, consistent product quality, and strict adherence to health and safety standards. This position is about guiding and empowering the production team, fostering teamwork, and maintaining efficiency across the department. Ultimately, the Production Supervisor ensures that the efforts of the production team and department deliver products that reflect our commitment to freshness, consistency, and excellence.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and assign daily tasks to the production team to ensure bakery products are prepared, packaged, and delivered on time while meeting company standards.
  • Lead, supervise, and motivate production staff, providing training and coaching on safe work habits, production techniques, and company expectations.
  • Evaluate employee performance, support the Production Manager with staffing and training decisions, and recognize strong performance to build a high-functioning team.
  • Monitor production floor activities, resolve operational issues promptly, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Coordinate continuously with the quality assurance team to align production practices with food safety, sanitation, and product quality requirements, ensuring conflicts are resolved constructively.
  • Work closely with maintenance to address equipment issues promptly and minimize downtime, keeping production schedules on track.
  • Oversee raw materials, packaging, and supply inventory, ensuring timely requisition to prevent shortages or delays while supporting cost control and waste reduction.
  • Ensure the facility and team comply with health, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations at all times, minimizing hazards at every stage of the food production process.
  • Track production data, maintain accurate reports on output, efficiency, and downtime, and communicate updates and recommendations to the Production Manager.
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture while balancing production efficiency with quality requirements.
  • Perform other essential duties as required to support the overall functioning and success of the production team.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Relevant education in food production, manufacturing, or a related field or a minimum of 2 years of proven work experience in a production, bakery, or food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a production team while working collaboratively with quality, maintenance, and sales departments.
  • Solid understanding of workplace safety, food handling practices, and quality control procedures.
  • Knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety regulations would be an asset but is not mandatory.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure products meet company standards for quality and consistency.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and discipline in managing schedules and ensuring production timelines are met.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to address production challenges quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment, balancing efficiency with accuracy to meet deadlines and production targets.
  • Effective communication and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to maintain positive team relations and resolve issues constructively.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to adjust to changing production priorities or unexpected challenges.
  • Basic computer literacy for tracking production metrics, preparing reports, and maintaining accurate records.
