Job Description:
As the Food Service Manager, you will work closely with the Restaurant Manager to oversee the daily operations of the restaurant. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the Restaurant Manager in supervising and coordinating kitchen operations to ensure food is prepared efficiently and meets restaurant quality standards.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, including cooks, sushi chefs, and kitchen helpers, on food preparation, hygiene, and safety procedures.
- Monitor food preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and high quality according to Japanese cuisine standards.
- Check daily inventory levels, assist in ordering food and kitchen supplies, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness and compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Schedule and assign kitchen staff duties to ensure adequate coverage during operating hours.
- Communicate with the front-of-house team to coordinate food delivery and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Support menu planning and assist with the introduction of new menu items or seasonal specials.
- Assist in cost control by monitoring food usage, waste, and portion sizes.
- Inspect kitchen equipment regularly and report maintenance needs to management.
- Handle minor staff or operational issues in the kitchen and report significant matters to the Restaurant Manager.
- Participate in the training and evaluation of new staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager.
Salary: $37 - $39/hour
Work term: Full time, permanent
Working hours: 35- 40 hours per week, shift
Requirements:
- Completion of college or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in food preparation or kitchen supervision.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to supervise a small kitchen team and communicate instructions clearly.
- Organized, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic English communication skills sufficient for work coordination.
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement
- Food Safe certification
- Valid driver’s license
