Nature of position:     Permanent, full-time (30-40 hours per week)

 

Wage:                          $38.00 per hour

 

Benefits:                      Extended medical for both employee and dependents

 

Vacation:                     4% to start; 6% if 6 years or longer with the company

JOB DUTIES. The following duties will be performed in this position:

 

  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children aged 2 to 5, to support and promote their cognitive, social, emotional and physical development.
  • Provide responsive care, guidance, and emotional support aligned with the BC Early Learning Framework.
  • Support children with diverse learning needs, including those requiring individualized strategies.
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of observations and assessments.
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children according to the BC Child Care Licensing Regulation (BC Reg 332/2007).
  • Communicate effectively with families and team members.
  • Participate in program meetings, collaboration discussions, and professional development.
  • Supervise, coordinate activities of, and support early childhood educator assistants.

 

REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess, at a minimum, the following skills and experience:

 

  • Valid BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate or proof of enrollment/in-progress training with completion no later than January 31, 2026. Program length must be equivalent to at least 2 years of full-time schooling.
  • Valid BC Infant & Toddler (ECE IT) Certificate or proof of enrollment/in-progress training.
  • BC Special Needs (ECE SN) Certificate is preferred.
  • At least six months of experience working in a licensed childcare environment is required.
  • Additional teaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience supporting children with developmental and/or behavioural needs is preferred.
  • Additional experience and/or certification in arts and crafts is preferred.
  • Team management experience is preferred.
  • First Aid & CPR-C (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check.
  • English is required for communication, documentation, and licensing compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Flexibility and reliability.
