Job description


Location: 247 Summerlea Road, Brampton ON, L6T 4E1

 (Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee.)

Salary: $30 to 38 hourly (To be negotiated) / 30 to 40 hours per week

Overtime:1.5 times gross pay after completion of 44 hours

Vacation Pay: 4% on every pay period

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate straight or articulated commercial trucks to transport goods and materials safely.
  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper balance, tarping, and securement for safety.
  • Plan and adjust routes using GPS and navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries while minimizing fuel consumption and emissions.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including brakes, tires, lights, cold storage, and safety systems.
  • Oversee vehicle condition and perform preventive maintenance, brake adjustments, and minor emergency roadside repairs.
  • Calculate costs of truck repairs and replacement parts when required.
  • Record cargo details, hours of service, distance traveled, fuel usage, and delivery information accurately.
  • Maintain driver logbooks, inspection reports, maintenance records, and trip reports in compliance with regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with dispatch, customers, and team drivers using radios or mobile devices.
  • Address customer questions, complaints, or concerns with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Arrange travel itineraries and reservations when required.
  • Obtain special permits and required documentation for cross-border or international transport.
  • Drive independently or as part of a two-person team or convoy.
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods in compliance with safety and legal standards.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations such as breakdowns, accidents, or adverse weather conditions.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • No educational requirement.
  • 1 year to less than 7 months of experience is required.
  • Valid AZ Class license with a clean driving record; ability to provide driver’s abstract and criminal record check.
  • Experience maintaining required documentation including driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), maintenance records, and trip reports.
  • Proficient in using GPS and navigation systems for efficient route planning and on-time deliveries.
  • Experience with local, long-haul, and provincial/territorial travel, with willingness to travel cross-border.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a large workload in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Physically capable of long hours of sitting and handling loads up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs).
  • Organized, reliable, and hardworking, with a strong commitment to safety and professionalism.
  • Strong communication skills in English are essential for understanding road signs, and regulations, and effectively communicating with others.
