Flynn Canada Ltd. is currently recruiting Roofer (commercial) to fill 10+ F/T vacancies in the Winnipeg and Brandon branches (1390 Spruce Street, Winnipeg, R3E 2V70K1; & 1850 18th Street North, Brandon, R7C 1A5, respectively). Other locations across Manitoba will be required based on awarded projects.

The position of “Roofer” is a skilled labour role, in which the Roofer works within a team, reporting to the site foreman to lay a variety of roofs on industrial, institutional and commercial buildings.

Responsibilities include:
• Install, repair, maintain and replace single ply roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel
• Install, repair, maintain and replace Modified Bitumen (Mod-Bit) roofing
• Install, repair, maintain, and replace single ply roofing systems, using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics or asphalt compositions
• Ensure roof membrane is protected from weather conditions such as rain and snow
• Use of hand tools and power tools for installation
• Repair, maintain, and replacement of all roofing systems
• Provide training to more junior level, less experienced workers

Qualifications Required:
• Minimum 3 years' roofing (commercial) experience OR completion of a two- to three-year apprenticeship program OR Journeyman/woman certificate OR Journeyman/woman certificate equivalent
• Intermediate English or French skills
• This is a unionized position; if hired, all candidates will be required to become a member (if not already)

Skills and Knowledge:
• Ability to work and communicate with others
• Ability to install all kinds of buildup roofing systems (including trusses)
• Ability to instruct apprentices and new workers
• Ability to work at heights
• Ability to learn and obey our extensive company safety policy

Terms of Employment:
• Permanent full time at 30-40 hours a week. Overtime after 10 hours a day and after 40 hours a week, paid at time and a half
• $33.93 - $41.50 per hour, depending on qualifications (starting wage for meeting minimum requirements is $33.93, wage scale increases based on additional experience). Salary increase is dependent on annual review;
• Benefits package offered by the Union
• Remuneration of 6% vacation pay on all earnings, 4.5% stat holiday pay on all earnings except for overtime
