Whistler Children's Centre Society

 

The Whistler Children's Centre is a non-profit Early Childhood Care and Education Centre offering child care programs to local families children ages 3 months to 5 years. We are looking for an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to join our team.

 

Position: Early Childhood Educator (ECE)

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: As soon as possible

Hourly Wage: $28.00 - $31.00 (Depends on qualification and work experience)

Working Hours: 34-36 hours per week

Working Location:  7146 Nesters Road, Whistler, BC V8E 0E2, Canada

Our teachers are responsible for:

  • Children – Provide an enriched environment that focuses on learning through play. Foster language development for both verbal and non-verbal children. Ensure that all guidance of children encourages positive self-concept, follows policy, and assists in teaching age appropriate problem solving skills. Guide and assist with proper eating, dressing and toilet habits. Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods. Establish behaviour guidelines for children. Targeted age group: Infant and toddler.
  • Administration – Plan, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children, lead activities including storytelling, music, and crafts, developing meaningful relationships with children. Prepare report and record of development of children. Regularly attend room meetings and general staff meetings. Supervise and work with other early childhood educators or early childhood educator assistants. Maintain supplies and equipment, assist in house keeping and cooking duties.
  • Working with Families – Builds strong relationships with families based on respect, empathy, and clear communication. Observe and prepare report on potential learning or behavioural problems and communicate with supervisors and families.
  • Health and Safety – Ensures that all current WCC policies relating to health and safety and nutrition are followed.

 

Qualification:

  • Completion of a college program in early childhood education or a bachelor's degree in child development is required.
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate is required.
  • First aid certificate is required.
  • Previous work experience as an Early Childhood Education Worker may be considered as a good asset, but not a mandatory requirement.
  • A clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
  • Ability to work in a team and self-motivated.
  • Working level of English (oral and written).
