Job Type: Permanent, full time
Wage: $36.00 per hour
Hours: 32 hours per week
Schedule: Morning and day shifts
Vacancies: 1 position

Job Summary

Sensational Kidz Therapy Services is seeking a qualified and compassionate Instructor of Persons with Disabilities to support clients with cognitive, social, emotional, physical, communication, and mobility-related barriers. The successful candidate will assess client needs, develop individualized education and intervention plans, and provide instruction and support to help clients improve independence, adaptation, communication, and life skills.

This is an on-site position. Remote work is not available.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Assess clients’ cognitive, social, and emotional barriers to establish appropriate adaptation goals.

Assess clients’ physical limitations, orientation abilities, and mobility needs to support rehabilitation and independence.

Develop individualized education and intervention plans based on each client’s special needs, readaptation goals, and independence objectives.

Assist clients in developing practical life skills.

Instruct clients in the use of rehabilitative techniques, prosthetic devices, wheelchairs, and other adaptive supports.

Provide instruction in reading and writing braille, where required.

Provide instruction in lip-reading, finger spelling, and sign language, where required.

Support clients in the formation and development of sound for speech using hearing aids and other assistive devices, where required.

Maintain accurate records and communicate client progress clearly and professionally.

Work collaboratively with clients, families, caregivers, and other professionals involved in client care.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Completion of a college or CEGEP program in a related field.

Three years to less than five years of relevant experience.

Strong understanding of individualized intervention planning and client-centred support.

Ability to work with persons with disabilities in a respectful, professional, and supportive manner.

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Ability to complete a criminal record check.

 

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a large workload. The successful candidate must have strong attention to detail and be able to perform physically demanding duties, including bending, crouching, kneeling, handling heavy loads, and supporting clients with physical or mobility-related needs.
