Steel Detailer - Drafting

Employer: Pro Draft Inc.

Work Location: 12332 Pattullo Place, Surrey, BC V3V 8C3

Salary: $37.50 hourly

Terms of employment: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week

Language: English

Experience: 2 to 3 years of experience

Education: Completion of Secondary

Start date: As soon as possible

Job Duties:

• Prepare detailed structural steel shop drawings, erection drawings, connection details, and fabrication packages using Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, and related drafting software.
• Analyze architectural, structural, and engineering drawings and specifications to develop accurate steel detailing documentation for fabrication and construction purposes.
• Produce 3D models and detailed layouts for beams, columns, stair systems, railings, and miscellaneous steel components.
• Generate bills of materials, anchor bolt plans, and material take-offs to support fabrication and procurement processes.
• Coordinate with engineers, fabricators, project managers, and construction personnel to resolve drafting conflicts and technical issues.
• Revise and update drawings based on engineering changes, RFIs, site measurements, and client feedback.
• Verify drawing accuracy and compliance with project specifications, building codes, industry standards, and fabrication requirements.
• Maintain organized project documentation, revision records, and electronic drafting files.
• Assist in improving drafting workflows, detailing efficiency, and quality control procedures within the organization.
• Support communication between office drafting teams, fabrication facilities, and field installation crews to ensure accurate project execution.
