We have an immediate opening for a full-time and permanent Biological Technician to join our Biological Services department.                     

We offer: C$36.75/hr (30-40hrs/wk).

Work location: Various locations throughout British Columbia, Canada

Employment requirements:

-          Diploma in a related field.

-          At least 1 year of experience in a related field.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect data and samples of water, soil, fish and amphibian populations by conducting field-research and surveys.
  • Assist in conducting biological, micro-biological and biochemical tests and laboratory analyses and summarize the findings with guidance.
  • Produce environmental impact assessment reports, aquatic effects assessment reports, Construction Environmental Management Plans and other client deliverables.
  • Monitor large-scale infrastructure projects in British Columbia to ensure environmental regulations are adhered to and offer measures to mitigate impacts to the environment.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring and compliance activities for the protection of fisheries stock, wildlife and other natural resources.
  • Apply for federal, provincial, and municipal permits that pertain to environmental management for development projects in BC.
  • Operates and maintains field instruments (e.g. sonar, hydrophones, backpack electrofisher, YSI meter).
