North Vancouver Child Development Center is a licensed child care centre dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where children can develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. We are committed to high-quality early childhood education and are seeking an experienced Early Childhood Supervisor to lead our educator team and ensure excellence in program delivery.

Position Summary

The Early Childhood Supervisor is responsible for supervising educators and support staff, ensuring compliance with provincial licensing requirements, implementing high-quality early learning programs, and promoting the overall well-being and development of children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate child care programs that support children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.

  • Supervise, mentor, and coordinate the work of early childhood educators, assistants, trainees, and volunteers.

  • Ensure compliance with all provincial child care licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and centre policies.

  • Plan and organize age-appropriate educational and recreational activities.

  • Observe children's development and identify potential learning or behavioural concerns.

  • Prepare written observations and communicate children's progress with parents and guardians.

  • Establish and implement positive behaviour guidance strategies.

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with parents, staff, and community service providers.

  • Order educational materials, classroom supplies, and equipment.

  • Attend and lead staff meetings to discuss children's progress, programming, and operational matters.

  • Maintain a healthy, safe, and inclusive environment for all children.

  • Plan and coordinate before- and after-school programs for school-age children.

  • Support continuous improvement of curriculum and staff performance.

Qualifications

Education

  • College diploma or certificate (1–2 years) in Early Childhood Education or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience working in a licensed child care centre.

  • Previous supervisory experience is considered a strong asset.

Required Certification

  • Valid British Columbia Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate.

  • Current First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before employment).

  • Criminal Record Check suitable for working with children.

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of British Columbia Child Care Licensing Regulations.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate documentation.

  • Commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for children.

Work Environment

  • On-site position.

  • Licensed child care centre.

  • Morning, daytime, early morning, and occasional evening shifts as required.
