Job Description

Acme Transport is a provider of multiple truckload transportation services. Established in 2011, we are now one of North America’s largest carriers with operating terminals extending across Western Canada & the Continental US. We need five full- time, permanent Warehouse supervisor to join their team as soon as possible.

Job Duties

Supervise, plan, assign and review the work of clerks engaged in the following duties: shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and maintaining inventories of materials, parts and products

Carefully co-ordinate the material handling activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing and unpacking in a fast paced environment

Ensuring that the warehouse and its systems stay organized

Generate reports to record stock levels, productivity, or employee performance

Oversee the reception of deliveries to ensure that they account for incoming items and keep records of their delivery

Organizes and leads warehouse trainings

Processing purchasing transactions; coordinating production work; dispatching crews; scheduling transportation crews and routes and other related activities

Ensure compliance with policies, procedures for safety and security, standards and regulations in force and participate in their improvement

Resolve various problems and related complaints and implement corrective measures and process improvements

Train warehouse workers in job duties

Requisition supplies and materials required in the warehouse

Ensure smooth operation of equipment and machinery and arrange for maintenance and repair work for equipment in the warehouse

Conduct performance reviews of supervised workers, and relay the information to the management

Perform the same duties as workers supervised such as operating forklift, loaders, and other equipment to transport materials to and from transportation vehicles and loading docks and to store and retrieve materials in warehouse

Employment requirements

Completion of secondary school is must and completion of a post-secondary education program of two to three years in business, supply chain, production or manufacturing management or related will be an asset to have.

5+ years of experience in the occupation supervised is required. The completion of a post-secondary education program of two to three years in business, supply chain, production or manufacturing management could reduce the experience requirement to 4 years.

Good communication skills in English are required in order to communicate with company drivers, customers, subcontractors, and management.

Frequent walking, climbing, crawling, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning, reaching, hand/eye coordination, lifting up to 50lbs.

Ability to practice helpful attitude toward co-workers and management team.

WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification is an asset.

Class 5 drivers license will be an asset.

Must be able to lift weight with or without equipment.

Must be able to stand/walk for up to 8 hours.

Must be willing and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.

Must be willing and able to work on warehouse equipment.

Benefits

As per BC Employment Standards act, 10 days paid vacation annually or 4% vacation
