Corona Gas Ltd. is seeking an experienced HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) Mechanic for a permanent, full-time position in Surrey, British Columbia. The successful candidate will provide installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair services at customer locations throughout Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

Schedule: Morning, daytime, evening, weekend and rotating on-call shifts may be required due to the nature of HVAC service work and customer demand

Main duties:
- Install, replace and overhaul heating systems, including furnaces, heat pumps and related equipment.
- Install refrigeration systems and assemble refrigeration and air-conditioning components.
- Install and service ventilation, air-handling and air-conditioning systems.
- Inspect, maintain and repair refrigeration equipment used in refrigerated commercial vehicles.
- Review blueprints, technical instructions and manufacturer specifications to determine installation and servicing requirements.
- Measure and mark reference points for the placement of equipment, piping and system components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration system problems.
- Repair or replace defective mechanical, electrical and control components.
- Start newly installed or repaired systems and test for leaks and proper operation using appropriate testing equipment.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, including refrigerant recharging, pressure checks, regulator testing and control calibration.
- Explain equipment operation and maintenance requirements to customers and provide professional on-site service.
- Guide and instruct apprentices in installation, maintenance and safety procedures when required.
- Complete service records and follow applicable safety requirements, manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
Education and certification requirements:
- Registered Apprenticeship Certificate in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic trade or equivalent relevant training and experience.
- At a minimum, the worker must be registered with SkilledTradesBC as an apprentice. A certified journeyperson or an individual holding valid authorization as a Trade Qualifier may also qualify.
Experience and skills:
- At least two years of relevant HVAC or refrigeration installation, maintenance and repair experience.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical instructions and manufacturer specifications.
- Experience troubleshooting HVAC and refrigeration systems and performing leak testing, refrigerant servicing and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to use HVAC tools and testing equipment safely.
- Good communication, customer-service and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, outdoor and on-site service environments.
