Job Overview
Total Demolition Limited is seeking two reliable and experienced General Construction Foremen/Women to join our team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The successful candidates will supervise construction and demolition crews, coordinate daily work activities, and ensure that projects are completed safely and efficiently.
This position involves working on-site in demolition, drilling, and excavation environments. The work may involve early mornings, mornings, days, evenings, nights, and shift work depending on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise construction and demolition workers and daily project activities.
- Supervise a crew of approximately 3–4 workers, including labourers and drillers.
- Coordinate work activities with project supervisors, managers, and other teams.
- Ensure all workplace health and safety regulations and procedures are followed.
- Oversee apprenticeship training and provide guidance to workers.
- Requisition and coordinate the delivery of required materials and supplies.
- Monitor work progress and ensure tasks are completed according to project requirements.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
Work Environment
The position involves working in:
- Demolition sites
- Drilling operations
- Excavation sites
- Construction environments
Workers may be exposed to dust, noise, odours, outdoor conditions, and other potentially hazardous work-site conditions.
Requirements
Education
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate; or
- Equivalent experience.
Experience
- 1 to less than 7 months of relevant experience.
- Experience in construction is preferred.
- Experience in industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) construction is an asset.
Certificates and Licences
- First Aid Certificate.
- WHMIS Certificate.
- Valid driver's licence.
Other Requirements
- Own vehicle for transportation to work sites.
- Steel-toed safety boots.
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal record check.
