 A trucking company, Groundway Transport Ltd., located at 10540 125A Street, Surrey BC V3V 5A3 has immediate vacancies for 10 long haul truck drivers.

Job Position: Long Haul Truck Driver

Positions Available: 10

Location of Work: Travel across Canada and USA with base at 12310 114 Ave, Surrey BC V3V3N5

Term of employment: Full time, Permanent, Overtime, Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend, Night, Flexible hours

Start Date: As soon as possible

Language: English

Minimum Education: None

Salary: $39 per hour for 40-60 hours per week

Job requirement:

Credentials: Class 1 or A driver's license with air brake endorsement.

Education: Completion of High School

Experience: No experience required. On the job training will be provided

Additional Skills:

Must have Class 1 OR A or equal Driver's License from any other province or country.

No formal education is required. Completion of secondary school education will be an asset to have.

No experience is required; we will provide On the Job Training to new hires. One year of mountain commercial driving experience is desirable

Proficiency to communicate in basic English.

Clean Driving abstract is required

Willing to travel across border, for extended periods, overnight and drive as a team.

Basic English is required to understand road signs and fill log book

Be able to work in individuals or in a team

Type of Travel: Long Haul, Regional, provincial/Territorial, National and International.

Duties:

• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks weighing over 4600 kg with three or more axles to transport goods and material to destinations all over Canada and USA;
• Oversee all aspects of vehicle such as condition of equipment, loading and unloading, and safety and security of cargo;
• Perform pre-trip inspection of vehicle systems and equipment such as tires, lights, brakes and cold storage;
• Maintain log book, record cargo information, distance travelled, fuel consumption and other information in log book;
• Communicate with dispatcher and Load cargo.
• Occasionally perform emergency roadside repairs.
• Ensure that all documentation and permits are in order when driving interstate routes

Benefits

As per BC Employment standards 10 days of paid vacation annually or 4% vacation pay of the gross salary. As per Canada labour code for highway drivers, overtime rate of 1.5 times the regular is applicable after 60 hours per week
